On Work Day 06, I made my first sale. Currently I’m at Work Day 22.
Here’s a photo of the current company scoreboard.
See where my name is? Yes, you’re seeing things correctly. It’s sitting at the very bottom. Unfortunately I’m currently #25 in my team, sitting at last place
I’ve spent a disproportionate amount of time studying, learning, and shadowing the tops reps, rather than working. I have such a perfectionist/analytical/planner/thinker type of personality that sometimes it holds me back from actually just getting to work. I came to realize these important distinctions:
- Learning is not the same thing as practicing.
- Knowledge is not the same thing as skill.
Along with that, a lot of the other guys already had work experience in direct sales, so I had a bit of catch up to do. The numbers reflect that.
No worries. I wouldn’t be publishing this if I thought I would stay at the bottom of the scoreboard for the rest of the Summer.
The trials of these past 22 days have been really difficult with more than a few days that I’ve broken down. But hey, you know what they say:
Life isn’t about how many times you fall down, it’s about how many times you get back up.
I’m on Work Day 22/97 of this Summer Sales Program. Most of the time so far has been spent on training, and finding my ‘why’ for this job.
But NOW – It’s time to bounce back and reach the top of the board.
